Spillane Trial Group Rebrands, Expands to Offer Corporate Legal Services

My entire career has been devoted to trying business cases.  My firm has been devoted exclusively to business trials.  I’ve tried many cases, some before juries, in all court systems and across the country.

Through these cases I’ve seen just about every way a business can find trouble.  People build an enterprise without getting core expectations and agreements in writing.  The contract omits an important clause.  The business does not adequately protect its intellectual property.   Investments are solicited without proper disclosures.  The business principals are all friends and partners — until they’re not — then everyone “lawyers up.”  The family enjoys their wealth while the patriarch lives, then when he passes the heirs draw knives.

Given the depth of this experience, clients increasingly ask me to serve as a trusted general counselor, even when they’re not in litigation.   In the past I have declined requests to handle our clients’ general corporate legal work, but recently I decided to say “yes.”

So, Spillane Trial Group is now Spillane Law Group.  We still specialize in bet-the-company business litigation.  We now also act as outside general counsel for private companies.

I’m pleased to announce the firm’s association with Don Zachary and Michael Barnes.  Don and Mike have been friends and colleagues of mine for decades.  Together they bring seventy years of experience in mergers and acquisition, debt and equity placement, media, intellectual property and general corporate advice.

See you in court.  Oh, and in the boardroom as well.
