Spillane Trial Group PLC announced today that Cathrynne Dale has become an officer in the firm. Dale, who joined the firm more than two years ago, was an integral part of the firm’s record of success during 2014, which included the favorable outcome of copyright case involving an Academy Award-winning movie, a triumphant sweep in multi-state litigation for investment holding companies, and successful motions involving novel issues related to attorney-client privilege. Dale is a creative thinker who fits well into the firm’s guiding principle that developing and articulating a direct and memorable case theme is the most cost effective and beneficial route to protecting the clients’ interests.
“Cat’s invaluable contributions to the firm earned her this promotion, and we want all our clients to realize the importance of her participation in their victories,” said Jay Spillane. “Clients who bring us their ‘bet the company’ cases can be confident Cat significantly adds to our capability to deliver a win.”
Dale attributes her ability to embrace novel litigation approaches to her nontraditional background. A Harvard Law School graduate who began her litigation career at Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker, she utilized a talent she had developed in high school and college to write motions that quickly disposed of whole or portions of cases.
Dale attended Van Nuys High School and Los Angeles City and Valley Colleges, winning numerous speech and writing awards. After trying her hand at professional acting, Cat transferred to the University of California Berkeley. There she obtained writing and play-writing awards and graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. Cat changed her focus to law and was admitted to Harvard, where she graduated cum laude after serving as an articles editor for the Harvard Women’s law journal, a board member for the Harvard Prison Legal Assistance Project and worked as a Rule 303 advocate representing indigent defendants.
“I appreciate the opportunities I’ve had at Spillane Trial Group to improve my craft while working on interesting cases that allowed us to attempt unique arguments,” said Dale. “I anticipate many more such wins and look forward to resolving litigation while saving clients time and money.”
